Jason Oakley
Jason Oakley is a seasoned financial services leader with over 40 years of experience in banking and investment. His career spans launching, scaling, and steering successful businesses across diverse markets, always with a focus on innovation, agility, and purpose-driven growth.
As CEO of Afin Bank, Jason leads a dynamic and diverse team united by a shared mission to redefine value in financial services. Under his leadership, Afin Bank has received its full banking licence and regulatory approval. He is solely focused on driving a clear vision to create a more inclusive and forward-thinking financial future.
Throughout his career, Jason has been passionate about building high-performing teams and creating the right conditions for people and ideas to thrive. He combines strategic vision with entrepreneurial drive, helping businesses navigate change and unlock new opportunities.
Jason holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School and a Fintech Disruption Certificate from Cambridge Judge Business School, among other professional finance qualifications. He remains committed to fostering trust, innovation, and impact at every stage of the customer and colleague journey.
Tippie Malgwi
Tippie Malgwi is a senior financial services professional with over 15 yearsā experience across the UK and Africa, specialising in high-net-worth and diaspora banking, specialist lending, and wealth-focused mortgage solutions.
As Head of High-Net-Worth and Diaspora Banking at Afin Bank, Tippie leads the bankās re-branded Afin High-Net-Worth proposition, supporting āasset rich, income lightā borrowers by enabling a wider range of assets to be considered in mortgage affordability. He also oversees Afin Bankās Diaspora mortgage offering, helping foreign nationals working in the UK overcome barriers to homeownership.
A passionate advocate for inclusive finance, Tippie was named one of the Top 100 African Business Professionals in the UK (2024) and UK Young Banker of the Year (2020). At Afin Bank, he plays a key role in broadening access to homeownership through innovative and inclusive lending solutions.

John Smith
John brings extensive experience across specialist and mainstream lending, with a strong background in supporting brokers and underserved borrowers. He joins Afin Bank with a track record of working closely with intermediaries to find practical mortgage solutions, particularly in complex and non-standard cases.
Before joining Afin, John held roles at Molo, The Co-operative Banking Group, Bluestone and Masthaven Bank, including being part of launch teams at specialist lenders. This experience has given him a deep understanding of how propositions are built from the ground up and how to support brokers through growth phases.
As Senior Business Development Manager for the South, John works closely with brokers to help them navigate complex borrower needs, including foreign national and high net worth clients. He is passionate about solution-led lending and believes strongly in helping customers who are often overlooked by traditional banks.

Debbie Lavender
Debbie brings a wealth of customer-facing and advisory experience to Afin Bank, having worked across both specialist brokerage and major high street banks. She joins from PWM (Partners Wealth Management), where she was a specialist mortgage broker supporting a wide range of borrower needs.
With previous roles at NatWest, Lloyds and Santander, as well as experience as a Wealth Advisor, Debbie has a deep understanding of borrower circumstances and the importance of putting the customer at the centre of every decision.
As Senior Business Development Manager covering the Midlands and the North, Debbie works closely with brokers to support clients who may struggle to access mortgages elsewhere, including self-employed borrowers and key workers. She is passionate about helping people secure a home of their own and values Afinās collaborative, hands-on approach to solving complex cases.

Anum Mahmood
Anum brings nearly 15 years of experience in the mortgage sector, with a strong background in key account management and intermediary relationships. She joins Afin Bank with a proven track record of building and strengthening partnerships with brokers, networks, packagers and mortgage clubs across the UK.
Before joining Afin, Anum spent six years at The Mortgage Lender (now part of Shawbrook Bank), where she progressed to the role of Key Account Manager. She has also held positions at Metro Bank, The New Homes Group and Alexander Hall, giving her broad experience across both specialist and mainstream lending environments.
As National Key Account Manager, Anum focuses on developing strategic relationships with Afinās larger partners nationwide. She is passionate about solution-led lending and supporting brokers with complex and non-standard cases, including self-employed borrowers, high-net-worth clients and foreign nationals working in the UK. Anum believes that by working collaboratively and listening closely to broker needs, complex cases can be made simple, and the right outcomes achieved with confidence.
